Lazy day for me today. Got up early, played on the computer, read my book, watched TV then took a nap. Then had dinner in the lounge and made a list of things we need to check on for the apartment as well as things we need to buy...........WOW what a list! Very overwhelming. Went to the 12th floor for a coffee and talked with Sue for a bit. Then Roly and I went to dinner with Chuck and Lisa at Boya's. Very good food, with EXCELLENT cheesecake! Weather today was VERY windy and rainy off and on all day. But, better than what STL is getting.......sounds like they have LOTS of snow and ice on the way. Still enjoying Tel Aviv tremendously!!

Today Lisa and I went for a walk on Dizengoff. Had lunch at Cup O Joe. Very good food. I had a toasted sandwich with cheeses, tomatoes and olives and a salad (the salads here are wonderful!!). Lisa had a chicken and vegetable dish with bulger......very good, with a chinese taste to it. We topped it off with DELICIOUS dessert and coffee. Had to do lots more walking to begin to feel like we had taken some of that off! We spotted a "Hemp Shop" and had to take a picture. How strange!! They have a cute purse in there I might have to go back and take a look at. Funny, the shops here close when they want and then reopen so sometimes the shops are open and sometimes they aren't!
Cinema City
Yesterday (January 29, 2011) was another wonderful day. Started out with Roly and I taking a walk along the boardwalk (bought some new rugs for our apartment!). Then Mark and Sylvia picked us up and took us to lunch at a place right across the street from Mark's office......again, wonderful food and service. Then we went to Cinema City to see "The King's Speech". Great move, and the "city" was quite an experience. Roly and I want to go back during the week when it is not so crowded. Lots of shops and cafes to experience.

King Solomon
Chuck and Lisa Haas
Had dinner at King Solomon (Hilton) Wednesday, January 25, 2011 with Chuck and Lisa. Beautiful place with the best service ever. The chef is from Gordon Ramsay's restaurant in Tokoyo!! Very "hoity toity" place but we all felt as if we "blended"!!
White Hall
Dinner at White Hall (Thursday, January 27, 2011) is quite an experience. The staff is awesome and so much fun. They brought us lots of foods to try that we didn't order and then for dessert brought us two different desserts, one with a sparkler in it. We went with Chuck and Lisa and laughed and just really enjoyed the experience. Great food and great fun!!

Dizengoff
OK, now this is strange even for me! No, these are NOT candy dispensers.....these are dog and cat food dispensers!! Right outside stores just like candy dispensers. As I was shopping along Dizengolff I noticed them and could not help taking a picture. I'm sure the "natives" thought I was crazy but I've never seen anything like it. I've also never seen dogs behave the way they do here. People walk everywhere with their dogs; not on leashes, they have the leash but they don't use them and the dog walks right with them, never barking at people or other dogs. I'm guessing there are a lot of dog whispers here...........Alex it could be your next calling!!
HaMedina
Today (Friday, January 21, 2011) Roly and I went for a walk to HaMedina Square. A very upscale shopping center and it is truly a "center" It is a round block full of very nice shops. His sister Sylvia and her son-in-law Jonathan both have shops there. Sylvia has a nice boutique for ladies and Jonathan has a Baby Dior shop. Yes, this is about as close to Gucci as I'll get.....but it was fun!
Jerusalem
Roly's brother Mark and his wife Sylvia took us to Jerusalem (Saturday, January 22, 2011). We had a wonderful time. Saw the Israeli museum of the Dead Sea scrolls and a layout of the city of Jerusalem. Of course the weather was beautiful and make it a great day. Then we had lunch with Mark and Sylvia and two other couples, one of them were friends of Mark's from Argentina from when Roly was a little boy and they now live in Israel.
Jaffa
Today (Friday, January 28, 2011) Roly and his brother Mark went to Jaffa. A very old part of town, very quaint.....kinda like our version of Old Town St. Charles. They did some walking and looking at museums and had some lunch. Nice time for brotherly bonding.
The first picture is a view of the beach from Jaffa; the second picture is the back of some apartments we looked at and the last picture......if you look at the first building on the left, that is the Hilton where we are staying!
Apartment
Well, looks like Roly and I have agreed on an apartment (Tuesday, January 25, 2011). It is truly beautiful. They are brand new and not totally finished. They will supply some appliances but we will supply the rest as well as lighting. Apartments here are much different than in the states. Most of them don't have any closets and many of them will not accommodate a bed bigger than full size. We were lucky enough to find one with a closet in the master bedroom and enough room for a king size bed. It has 4 bedrooms; one is very small and will be used for a laundry room and computer room. But the best part is the balcony........WHAT A VIEW!! We should be moving in by the 15th, hoping for the 10th!!
Hilton, Tel Aviv
Here we sit in beautiful Tel Aviv, Israel (arrived Tuesday, January 18, 2011). We do miss our friends and family back home, but not the weather. We have our balcony door open and are listening to the sea while enjoying room service. Today was a lazy day for me, I've been so down with a cold that I figured a day of rest would do me some good. Roly went to Jaffa with his brother Mark. They did some touring and site-seeing and had some lunch. Roly and I will go back another time together and do some exploring.
